Comparing two characters and the case of PTSD

Igby Slocumb coming from Burr Steers' film Igby Goes Down and Holden Caulfield from T. D. Salinger's award winning new The Baseball catchers in the Rye are both bothered adolescences from events that occurred in all their past. Those two teens have a case of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, although show much different symptoms, which are apparent to the people around them. These symptoms are portrayed in various incidents during both the film and the book, when Holden constantly recalls his close friend, when Igby cannot deal with his mother's death, and Igby's stable fear of becoming like his supposed-to-be daddy. Holden's major reason for having symptoms of PTSD is definitely the tragic fatality of his younger brother Allie, who had died of Leukemia if he was 9. One of Holden's obvious symptoms is his reoccurring thoughts of his deceased buddy. When Stradlater requested that Holden write a composition to get English course for him, he made a decision to write about his brother Allie's baseball glove. When he begins composing, it provides memories back to him. He admits that " She has dead right now. He received Leukemia and died when we were in Maine, on July 18th, 1946. You'd have loved himвЂќ (Salinger, Page 38). This quotation indicates how Holden remembers his brother's death in detail, and it is resistant that he has reoccurring memories with the traumatic celebration of Allie's death. Another symptom of PTSD that Holden shows is usually his rage fit soon following his brother's fatality. " I actually slept in the garage the night time he died, and I shattered all the goddam windows with my fist, just for the hell of it. I actually even attempted to break each of the windows within the station wagon we had that summer, nevertheless my hand was already broken and everything by simply that time, and I couldn't perform itвЂќ (Salinger, Page 39). This estimate shows just how enraged and disturbed Holden was that night by sharing with us how violently this individual reacted. Holden's case of PTSD...
